Identity in Climate Change

Here we look at the young generation. How do you form a stable self when feedback is permanent, public, and algorithmically distorted?

This episode uses the motif of existential lostness to describe the situation of "Generation Feed." This generation is not lost in space. They are lost in the stream.

Identity has always been formed in relationships. In the family. At school. In the neighborhood. Manageable circles whose reactions could be placed in context.

Today the circle is infinite. The audience invisible. The reaction unpredictable. A post can be ignored or go viral. The same action can be celebrated or destroyed – depending on factors nobody understands.

Identity becomes endless optimization for an invisible spectator. Who am I? What gets likes. What I'm worth? What the numbers say.

We call for spaces of unobservedness where real growth is possible. Spaces where mistakes don't end careers. Where one can experiment without being documented. Where development can occur without performance pressure.

The young generation doesn't need more technology. They need more protection from technology. More silence. More invisibility. More room to become.
